The Presidency of the Republic Mourns to the Yemeni People the Former President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi

Aden

The Presidency of the Republic, with profound sorrow and deep grief, mourns to the Yemeni people, and to the Arab and Islamic nations, the former President of the Republic, the great patriot and Field Marshal Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, who passed away today, Thursday, after a life full of struggle, dedication, and sincere national service to his homeland and people.

Below is the statement:

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

“O reassured soul, return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing [to Him]. Enter among My servants, and enter My Paradise.”
(Qur’an 89:27–30)

With deep sorrow and grief, and with hearts that believe in Allah’s decree and destiny, the Presidency of the Republic of Yemen mourns to all the sons and daughters of our great Yemeni people, and to the Arab and Islamic nations, the passing of former President Field Marshal Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, who returned to his Lord today, Thursday.

He leaves behind a long national career during which he held the highest military and political positions. At critical moments in Yemen’s modern history, he embodied the model of a statesman who stood firmly for the republic, constitutional legitimacy, the unity of Yemen, and the supreme interests of his people under the most difficult and complex circumstances.

The Presidency recalls, in this painful loss, the national role of the late president in leading the transitional phase and his contribution to achieving a peaceful transfer of power that spared Yemen from descending into wider conflict during an extremely sensitive period. It also remembers his responsible sponsorship of the Comprehensive National Dialogue Conference, regarded as one of the most important unifying political milestones agreed upon by Yemenis for building a just federal state based on partnership, equal citizenship, the rule of law, and the protection of rights and freedoms.

The state leadership also remembers the late president’s positions in defending Yemen’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity; resisting the coup against state institutions and national principles; and his steadfast national stance against the new Imamate project. He remained committed to protecting Yemen’s Arab identity, preserving its independent national decision-making, upholding national, regional, and international reference frameworks, and defending the right of Yemenis to restore their state and institutions, end the Houthi coup backed by the Iranian regime, and achieve a just and comprehensive peace.

The Presidency also highlights the wise leadership of President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, who led the Yemeni state during one of the most difficult periods the country has ever faced—amid war, coup, and unprecedented humanitarian and economic crises. During this time, he succeeded in preserving regional and international recognition of the Yemeni state and its legitimate institutions. He remained committed to prioritizing the national interest, culminating in his decision to transfer power through a responsible national consensus and the formation of the Presidential Leadership Council in 2022, aiming to unify the national front, strengthen efforts to restore state institutions, and end the suffering of the Yemeni people.

The Presidency also expresses deep appreciation for the sincere brotherly support shown by the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, including its leadership, government, and people, toward the late president throughout the years of his residence there. He and his family were given care, loyalty, and respect befitting his national stature and leadership role—a noble brotherly gesture reflecting the depth of the historic and fraternal ties between the two countries and peoples.

The legacy of President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi will remain present in the memory of Yemenis through the lessons he embodied in patience, wisdom, prioritizing national interests, and standing alongside the aspirations of the Yemeni people for freedom, dignity, and an inclusive state that is not monopolized by any group nor held hostage to cross-border projects of violence, sectarianism, and destruction.

In this painful loss, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council, his fellow council members, and the government extend their sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy to the family of the deceased, his companions, and admirers, as well as to all the Yemeni people. They pray to Almighty Allah to envelop him in His vast mercy, grant him spacious gardens in Paradise, reward him abundantly for what he gave to his homeland and people, and grant his family, loved ones, and supporters patience and comfort.

The Presidency of the Republic announces official mourning and the lowering of flags for three days, and the opening of condolence registers inside Yemen and abroad, in honor of the deceased’s legacy and national stature.

Indeed, to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return.

In this painful loss, the embassy will also open a condolence register at its headquarters in London, and the date will be announced later.
